Published July 30, 2010
Purpose
This committee controls and oversees all ISCP involvement in conferences, seminars, workshops and other external activities (other than the quadrennial International Conference on Concrete Pavements).
Chair
José Balbo, University of São Paulo (BRAZIL)
Members
Erwin Kohler, Dynatest Consulting, Inc. (CHILE)
Bo Tian, Research Institute of Highway (CHINA)
Mark B. Snyder, ACPA-Pennsylvania Chapter (USA) - Ex-officioResponsibilities
- Receive and evaluate proposals to the ISCP Board from organizers of technical conferences, workshops, seminars, and other activities for all forms of ISCP participation.
- With the prior approval or guidance of the ISCP Board, initiate regional, national or international technical events.
- Recruit ISCP members to serve on organizational, technical and other committees for board-approved events, as required.
- Work with other ISCP committees to ensure successful technology transfer and adherence to editorial and publication standards (as appropriate and required) for all events in which ISCP is involved.
Current Tasks and Goals
- Complete the development of a standard “gateway document” or application for ISCP involvement in events initiated outside of ISCP. This document must provide the Board with sufficient information to determine the requested commitment from ISCP for the specific event, and must also provide a reasonable level of detail concerning the organizational framework and financially responsible parties for the event. A preliminary document has been developed by George Vorobieff as a starting point for developing the necessary document.
- Assist Chang’an University and the Research Institute of Highway in China with the planning and conduct of their International Conference on Concrete Pavement Design, Construction and Rehabilitation, to be held April 18-20, 2011 in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, P.R. China.
- Partner with IBRACON in organizing the 2nd Conference on Best Practices for Concrete Pavements, which will be held in Florianopolis, Santa Catarina State, Brazil on October 18-20, 2011.
- Pursue possible partnership with the U.S. Federal Highway Administration in co-hosting an international conference (possibly concerning precast concrete pavement systems) in Washington, D.C. in 2011.
