Argentina: “17th Argentine Congress on Road Administration & Traffic” Held in Conjunction with “3rd International Seminar on Concrete Pavements”

Co-sponsored by Instituto Cemento Portland Argentina (ICPA) (Argentine Institute of Portland Cement)the XVII (17th) Argentine Congress on Road Administration and Traffic was held October 24-28, 2016 at the Centro de Events & Convenciones Rosario in Rosario, Santa FE, Argentina. Argentine Congress of Road Administration and Traffic is a forum to discuss and exchange experiences for all those professionals and technicians involved in road management and traffic issues—both in the private or public sector—and in rural and urban areas.

The 17th Congress was well-attended with over 3000 people, and nearly 400 people attended the “III (3rdInternational Seminar on Concrete Pavements”—held simultaneously. Dr. Jeff Roesler-ISCP President and Dr. Mark Snyder-Former ISCP President, both addressed the Congress. Presenters at the 3rd Concrete Seminar included ISCP’s Dr. Jeff Roesler-ISCP President, Dr. Mark Snyder-Former ISCP President, Dr. Erwin Kohler-ISCP Board of Director and 3ipe-Chile, and Mauricio Salgado-ISCP Active Member.

This year’s motto was “A View into the Future of Roads and Transport”. Technicians, project, construction, and project-management professionals in Argentina, and road sector officials, who were updated on the latest news in technology and science, by means of the Eight Specific Areas of the Congress. All exchanged their experiences, improvement proposals, and vast knowledge through discussions that included different alternatives to further work and improve upon the systems used within the country. The technical agenda covered all those topics related to road administration and traffic, in a broad and multidisciplinary approach.

The ICPA strongly believes that we must stay on the path of natural resource sustainability and efficiency, creating a system of modern, reliable and safe roads; thus expanding the transport infrastructure required in our country to have an increasingly more productive society, with focus on improving the quality of life of inhabitants from the different regions and the clear thought of continuously fostering economic growth.

Because it is important that growth should be accompanied by a strong commitment to create a network of training, innovation and transfer of technology, the “III International Seminar on Concrete Pavements” was held simultaneously within the Congress. Well-known national and international experts shared the latest trends and developments of rigid pavement and different applications. Topics related to:
• Construction Projects
• New Materials
• Sustainable Practices
• Environmentally Friendly Solutions

The Instituto Argentino del Cemento Portland (Argentine Institute of Portland Cement), Intelligent Transport System (ITS Argentina), and the Comisión Permanente del Asfalto (Asphalt Standing Committee) jointly organized the:
(1) III International Seminar on Concrete Pavements; (2) XI ITS International Congress; and (3) XXXVIII Asphalt Meeting “Eng. Marcelo Álvarez” respectively … all of which enhanced and leveraged the development of the event, turning Rosario City into the meeting point of the Argentine and Latin American Road Administration sector.

9thexpoIn addition, the 9th Expovial Argentina 2016 (Exhibits) was held simultaneously with the 17th Congress. It brought together more than 110 stands in an indoor space of over 3,500 square meters, and a great outdoor space for exhibition of machinery and equipment—where exhibitors presented their products to professionals from different countries, owners, operators, users and suppliers of technologies and services. The exhibits included road safety, intelligent technology, equipment, and machinery for the construction of bridges and roads, concrete and asphalt applications, and more.
