SUMMARY:African Construction and Totally Concrete Expos
DESCRIPTION:The Concrete Society of Southern Africa is proud to be the Endorsing Partner of the 2016 African Construction and Totally Concrete Expos. The growing success of this event over the past 3 years has illustrated the great need for a single platform where industry issues can be shared and debated. Such issues as infrastructure investment and roll-out\, new technology\, improved construction techniques\, growth challenges and many more. \nFor exhibitors there is a great opportunity for companies to display their latest products and services available to the African market. Also a chance to meet the right people from 40 countries and nurture key relationships\, which will to help their businesses to expand to new heights in the concrete and construction industries. \nThe use of concrete has been around for many centuries\, and will no doubt be around for many more. However\, there are still many untapped possibilities for this unique building material\, so please attend this highlight event of the construction industry’s calendar and be part of the concrete construction community’s future. \nhttp://www.totallyconcrete.co.za/ \n  \nShare this:\n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X

SUMMARY:Mini-Symposium on Pavement Mechanics and Materials (EMI-MS-23)
DESCRIPTION:The objective of this symposium is to collect and disseminate state-of-the-art and new\, emerging techniques and developments on pavement mechanics including characterization\, modeling and simulation of pavements and pavement materials. We anticipate four to five sessions of presentations. \nTopics of interest include\, but not limited to: \n\nDiscrete and finite element modeling of the response of pavement materials\nPerformance models of flexible and rigid pavements\nModeling of vehicle-pavement interactions\nConstitutive modeling and experimental characterization of pavement materials (asphalt binder\, aggregates\, asphalt mixes\, cementitious materials and Portland cement concrete\, unstabilized and stabilized bases\, and subgrade soils)\nNumerical response analysis of pavements under static and dynamic wheel loading and climatic conditions\nExperimental measurements and modeling of permanent deformation\, fatigue cracking\, low temperature cracking and moisture damage in pavement layers\nMicrostructure characterization and micromechanics of asphalt concrete\, cementitious materials\, and Portland cement concrete\nArtificial intelligence techniques and application for forward and backcalculation analyses of pavements\n\nShare this:\n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X

SUMMARY:Aggregates (Gradation Fundamentals)
DESCRIPTION:Aggregates (Gradation Fundamentals) (60–90 min.)\nTues.\, May 31\, 2016\, at 12:00 PM (noon) CDT\nPresenter: Gary Fick \nThis course focuses on the need for a good combined gradation of aggregates for concrete mixture optimization\, and how that may be achieved. The course describes why a poor combined gradation can negatively impact the workability of concrete mixtures for paving applications. The webinar will also cover research efforts aimed at developing tools to evaluate concrete mixture workability\, as well as resources that contractors can used in mixture proportioning. The course will also include tips and recommendations to assist contractors in adjusting mixture proportions in the field. \nRegistration: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3074138128098469121. \nLink: Tech Brief “BLENDED AGGREGATES FOR CONCRETE MIXTURE OPTIMIZATION – Best Practices for Jointed Concrete Pavements” http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/pavement/concrete/pubs/hif15019.pdf \nThis webinar was developed by the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center with support from the Federal Highway Administration (contract DTFH16-14-D-0005). \nShare this:\n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print\n \n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X
