“Concrete Pavement Innovation, Evaluation & Management Seminar” Held in Guatamala

The “Concrete Pavement Innovation, Evaluation, and Management Seminar” was held Thursday March 17, 2016 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Sponsored by Cementos Progresos, Mixto Listo (Ready Mixed), and International Society of Concrete Pavements (ISCP), there were about 65 people in attendance. Guatemala has 15 million people and is actively building the roadway infrastructure. Cementos Progresos is a partner in a privately funded 20-km roadway—Via Alterna del Sur (VAS)—that will open in April, 2016.

The objective of this technology transfer workshop was to:

  • Provide an overview of concrete pavement applications for the road network
  • Pavement evaluation/monitoring
  • Overview of pavement management systems
  • Roller compacted and concrete overlays
  • Recent concrete pavement innovations for engineers working for consultants, contractors, and government agencies.

Speakers included:
Professor Jeffery Roesler, University of Illinois and President of ISCP and Dr. Erwin Kohler, Head of Consulting for Central & South America-Dynatest and Director, ISCP
