CP Tech Center Webinar Series: “Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) Overview for Concrete Pavement & Overlays”— Attend #3 on December 5, 2018; View #1 & #2

The National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) is offering a webinar series titled “Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) Overview for Concrete Pavement and Overlays”. The first and second webinars of the series were on October 24 and November 7 and are now available for viewing. A third webinar in the series will be:

Wednesday   |   December 5, 2018   |   10:00 AM – 11:00 AM EST
Presenters: Jeff Roesler, Ph.D., P.E., President-ISCP and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and
Amanda Bordelon, Ph.D., P.E., Utah Valley University

A macrofiber software tool and accompanying documentation has been developed to assist pavement engineers in designing concrete overlays with fiber reinforced concrete (FRC). This third webinar will provide an overview of the macrofiber software for determining the recommended fiber reinforced concrete residual strength values for application to concrete overlay design. In particular, the inputs and factors affecting the required fiber reinforced concrete content will be discussed, as well as integration of the calculated residual strength with the existing concrete pavement overlay design methods. Finally, guidance will be provided on how specifications can be adapted to include macrofibers in concrete overlays in order to make sure the designer’s intentions for the FRC are met in the construction phase.

**To attend the third webinar on December 5 at 10:00 AM EST, please go to: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/2109690528809036035

There is no cost for the webinar, but you must register to get a link to join the webinar. If more than one person will be attending (i.e., conference room), please forward the additional names and emails to: E-mail: dfwagner@iastate.edu

The first and second webinars of the series were on October 24 and November 7 and are now available for viewing. In webinar one, presenters Jeff Roesler, Ph.D., P.E., President-ISCP and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Amanda Bordelon, Ph.D., P.E., Utah Valley University offered a general overview of fibers used for concrete pavements with an emphasis on macrofibers and their effect on concrete properties and pavement construction.

In webinar two, they reviewed significant findings of macrofiber addition to concrete slabs on grade, which include the increase in plain concrete slab capacity, reduction in crack widths, and increase in pavement performance.
