Joint Deterioration Causes and Prevention

The discussion will review the causes behind premature joint deterioration, including freezing and thawing, and oxychloride formation.  Guidance will be provided on what can be done to reduce the risk of its occurrence, and how mixtures can be evaluated before construction starts. Implementation and long-term performance of partial-depth repair and other PCC preservation methods.

Partial-depth repairs and other preservation methods are important tools that can be used to address construction issues, maintain good service and lengthen the life of concrete pavements. This second part of the webinar will review proven techniques, materials and resources related to concrete pavement restoration, as well as highlight case histories and ongoing research being conducted to improve processes and address new challenges.
