Digitize Your Roads: How to Build a GIS Shapefile from a Paper Map or No Map At All

Many local governments do not have the resources to have a full-time GIS professional on their staff and lack digital GIS shapefiles for critical infrastructure such as roads. In this tutorial, RoadBotics Cartographer Lisa McCune will show how anyone can use a paper map (or no map at all!) to create a GIS shapefile of your community’s road network using Open Street Maps.
