Webinar Mar 5: RT&I: “Curing Application Real-Time Control & Hwy Construction Productivity Research”: Dr. D. Zollinger, ISCP Past Pres & Honorary Member

WEBINAR:
Friday | March 5, 2021

11:00 a.m. CST / Noon EST (USA & Canada)

Continuing a highly successful commitment to virtual transfer of concrete pavement technology since the onset of the pandemic, the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CPTech Center) and the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) Research, Technology & Innovation (RT&I) Functional Committee—the 5-task-force committee to address the 5-highest-identified innovation needs in the industry. The plan is to enhance your learning opportunities by collaborating to present some special, cutting-edge technology webinars in addition to the monthly Concrete Pavement Technology Tuesday offerings. The first on on March 5, 2021 WEBINAR will cover real-time control of curing application and a research project that will address highway construction productivity. The webinar is open to all members and others with an interest in the topics.

We hope that you will join industry, national, state, and local agency/consulting firms to explore some exciting ideas and research intended to enhance the performance and economics of concrete pavements throughout our nation. There is no cost to attend the webinar.

DAN ZOLLINGER, Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering-Texas A&M University’s Zachary Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, will present his approach for real-time control of curing application. Dr. Zollinger has developed an instrumentation process that allows feedback to a contractor for timing and application rates for curing based on real-time conditions.
OMAR SWEI, Assistant Professor- University of British Columbia/Vancouver (UBC), Department of Civil Engineering, will discuss how productivity defines how efficiently firms and industries take “inputs” and turn them into “outputs.” Researchers from UBC are working for the Brookings Institute, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, and others to research highway construction productivity. Researchers would like to interview and survey concrete paving contractors to determine what drives productivity in concrete paving, and how productivity is measured. One goal of the study is to create a report for DOTs and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to detail how current agency practices impact contractor productivity and costs.

Information on future topics and dates for webinars in this series will be sent out soon!
