As we begin 2022, I would like to take a moment to recap the activities of the past year and provide a brief update on future ISCP endeavors.
While 2021 was a difficult year to maintain our original plans, the 12th International Society for Concrete Pavements was held virtually September 27-October 1 and had nearly 700 participants from 31 countries. The virtual 12th ICCP included 96 technical presentations, 10 sponsored workshops, a NEW Student Pitch event, and the induction of 5 noteworthy Honorary Members to the Society:

This unique event promoted online networking opportunities through its avatar-based platform while still remaining true to ISCP’s mission of technology transfer promotion in our field. After participants spent a little time getting used to the new avatar program, they created their individual avatar and discovered how to manage the conference rooms, along with other attendees in the virtual meeting rooms and on stages. People really enjoyed it, had fun with it, sent snapshots, and posted on social media! We received a lot of positive feedback! Videos of the sessions are still being processed by our online partner SB2 for future access to ISCP members; The conference proceedings are nearing completion; Assignment of individual digital object identifiers (DOIs) are hosting through the University of Alabama Libraries.
I extend a heart-felt thank you to our many conference authors, attendees, and sponsors for their participation in this landmark event! In addition, I express my highest gratitude to the conference steering committee who helped steer this event through ever-adapting times of change during this pandemic!
To continue ISCP’s commitment to hold this series of International Conferences of Concrete Pavements, the 13th Conference Committee will commence shortly to hold our next conference:

In addition to the conferences, ISCP has started to undertake several initiatives to provide better value to our members. Our technology transfer committee is currently developing a new WEBINAR SERIES in partnership with the International Road Federation (IRF) to help promote better understanding of fundamental concrete pavement technology to a new worldwide audience. The technology transfer committee is also cataloging previous International Conferences on Concrete Pavements with DOIs to provide better access to these exceptional resources for the concrete pavement field. In addition, this catalogue will feature a concrete pavement repository with several historical documents, videos, and interviews of interest to our community.
While not competed as anticipated in 2021, the membership committee will be spearheading a major change in the individual and organizational membership structure, including member benefits restructuring and a move to a calendar year membership period in 2023. Through our new Directors of Communications—Dr. Sushobhan Sen and Dr. Lucio Salles—ISCP is in the process of reorganizing its website and adding new features to our newsletter to better showcase these resources to our members and friends alike.
In January 2022, ISCP will be holding elections for our Executive Committee:
President • Vice-President • Secretary-Treasurer
A ballot will be emailed to members in early January, so please be prepared to cast your ballot as a member of the Society!
As tradition, ISCP will be holding its joint Open Membership and Board Meeting in conjunction with the 101st Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in Washington, DC:
