A new infographic titled “Cradle-to-Grave/Rock-to-Rock!” highlights the sustainable benefits of concrete pavement. This one-page flyer (seen here) includes bullet points on:
• Durability
• Resilience
• Heat island
• Lighting
• Carbon sequestration
• Other benefits

However, the main feature points out that concrete is made from
natural ingredients and returns to those natural ingredients
once its service life is completed.

Phil Kresge, Senior Vice President, Local Paving-NRMCA said, “Basically, concrete is made from rock and water. And once it has reached the end of its service life, it can be crushed and, once again, becomes rock. The crushed concrete aggregate can be used as a subbase material or as aggregate in new concrete mixes. Either way, it is a natural replacement for virgin aggregate material. Rock-to-Rock! Sustainability in its simplest form.”
