14th International Symposium on Concrete Roads held in Krakow, Poland

The 14th International Symposium on Concrete Roads took place in Krakow, Poland from June 25 to 28, 2023. The symposium, under the theme of “Concrete Roads to the Green World”, was a great place to share or experiences, research results and new developments in the field of concrete pavements, hydraulically bound base layers, and concrete block paving.

Several members of ISCP attended the Symposium and Co-Director of Communications Dr. Lucio Salles spoke about the 13th International Conference on Concrete Pavements, to be held in Minneapolis, USA in 2024, during the opening ceremony.

At the end of the symposium, prizes were awarded for the best papers and, for the first time, the International Award in honor of Carlos Jofre (an ISCP honorary member) was awarded for exceptional achievements in the field of concrete roads to Prof. Michael I. Darter. Prof. Darter is an honorary member of ISCP since 2005.

Best technical paper: “New construction concepts for the realization of electric road systems with dynamic inductive power transfer technologies” by a team of authors from RWTH AACHEN UNIVERSITY: F. Otto, J. Rickwärtz, S. Stevic, J. Kolb, K. Hameyer, M. Niedermeier and R. Grajcarek.

Best marketing paper: “Improving pavement residency to flooding: a case for concrete pavements” by a team of authors from the USA: J. Mack (CEMEX USA), G. Dean (ACPA) and L. Wathne (CP Tech Center). All authors are ISCP Members and Leif Wathne currently severs in the ISCP Board of Directors.
