Aalborg Portland Malaysia Launches D‑Carb White Cement

Aalborg Portland Malaysia—part of Cementir Group—has introduced CEM II/A‑LL 52.5N, a low‑carbon white cement in its D‑Carb product line. This new offering delivers approximately 12% lower CO₂ emissions than the traditional Aalborg White CEM I 52.5N, while maintaining strong early-age performance and high whiteness, reports CemNet. The launch aligns with Cementir Group’s broader decarbonization strategy, which includes global targets like reaching net-zero by 2050, and is motivated by the rising demand for lower-carbon white cement in the APAC region, especially Australia, where environmental policies and sustainability goals are pushing industry adoption.

The key benefits of the product are:

  • Reduced CO₂ footprint (~12%) without compromising strength or setting time
  • Consistent whiteness, thanks to carefully selected pure limestones
  • Enhanced rheology, ideal for precast, self‑compacting, and decorative concrete

The product results from collaborative R&D efforts with admixture specialists to ensure compatibility and performance consistency. It preserves low alkali/chloride contents of Aalborg White clinker—which is key for durability—while delivering high early strength and smooth finishes. Targeted initially at Australia and broader APAC markets, it is expected the expand globally in the coming years. Read more about this exciting new product here.
