EUPAVE Webinar Highlights Rapid-Hardening Concrete for Pavement Repairs

On June 17, 2025, ISCP partner organiation EUPAVE hosted a well-attended webinar on pavement repairs using rapid-hardening concrete, drawing around 60 participants globally. Although originally scheduled to include a presentation from Alvin John (Premcrete, UK), EUPAVE Technical Director and former ISCP Director Luc Rens stepped in to present Belgium’s experience with traditional rapid-hardening concrete. He detailed how full-depth repairs can reopen to traffic within 36 to 72 hours, emphasizing mix design, specifications, and lessons from two decades of application. Tim Alte-Teigeler of OAT (Germany) followed with a case study on ultra-fast motorway repair, showcasing techniques that achieve traffic reopening within 4–5 hours.

Both experts underscored the sustainability and performance benefits of using concrete for concrete pavement repairs, instead of relying on temporary asphalt patches. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, highlighting strong interest in practical and innovative repair strategies. Presentations from the webinar are available for download through EUPAVE.
