Concrete Pavement Innovation Takes Center Stage at ACPA’s 62nd Annual Meeting

The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) held its 62nd Annual Meeting from December 2-4 in Carlsbad, California, offering a concentrated program on the latest research and best practices in the industry. A significant highlight was the strong technical contribution from the International Society for Concrete Pavements (ISCP) leadership. ISCP President Armen Amirkhanian delivered a compelling presentation titled “Demystifying Colloidal Silicas” as part of the Concrete Pavement University (CPU) sessions. His talk offered attendees a deep dive into the properties and mechanisms of colloidal silicas, nano-scale materials increasingly utilized as advanced solutions for enhancing concrete pavement durability and performance.

Further enriching the technical program, ISCP board member Leif Wathne presented a detailed session on “Troubleshooting Strength and Surface Issues in City Streets – A Case Study.” Wathne’s presentation provided a practical, real-world analysis of common challenges encountered in urban concrete paving projects, focusing on strategies for identifying and resolving problems related to strength development and surface quality.

The annual meeting served as a crucial forum for networking and collaboration, reinforcing the concrete pavement community’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
