Tara Cavalline

Dr. Cavalline is an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Cavalline’s research interests include materials and mixtures for durable and sustainable concrete, use of recycled and byproduct materials in concrete applications, quality assurance and control, and asset management. She has worked on a number of projects for North Carolina Department of Transportation, FHWA (through the National Concrete pavement Technology Center at Iowa State University) the ACI Concrete Research Council, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and other entities.

Active in the Transportation Research Board for 20 years, Dr. Cavalline served as member and Chair of committees AFN20 Properties of Concrete, and as a member of AFN 30 Durability of Concrete, AKC30 Quality Assurance, and the AF000 Design and Construction Group. She is the Chair of AK000 Transportation Infrastructure Group from April 2022 to April 2025. She currently serves as the academic representative on the Executive Board of the National Concrete Consortium, and is also active in ACI and ASCE’s Forensic Engineering Division.

Dr. Cavalline holds BS and MS degrees in civil engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a PhD in Infrastructure and Environmental Systems from UNC Charlotte. At UNC Charlotte, she teaches courses in Construction Materials, Advanced Concrete Materials, Quality Assurance in Construction, and other courses.
