CP Tech Center Transfer Project Wraps Up—2 Summary Documents Now Available

September 2013 through December 2018, the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) embarked on a project funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The goal was to bring the latest in concrete pavement innovations, knowledge, and technologies to state highway agencies (SHAs) in support of the federal Accelerated Implementation and Deployment of Pavement Technologies (AID-PT) program goals.

The CP Tech Center has just issued two summary documents outlining the results of their efforts to:
Share the project findings
and
Help SHAs manage their concrete pavement resources more efficiently:

1. Technology Transfer of Concrete Pavement Technologies, the summary report, describes the national program to promote better performance in these areas:

  • Sustainability aspects of concrete pavements and materials
  • Preservation and maintenance techniques for concrete pavements
  • Long-life concrete pavements
  • Innovative concrete materials
  • New technologies and advancements in concrete pavement placement

Written by Peter Taylor, Director-CP Tech, Dale Harrington, and Tom Cackler, the final summary document details the extensive outreach to associations, industry, academia, and SHAs throughout the project. For the 146-page report, please click on the image to the top right, or go to: https://intrans.iastate.edu/app/uploads/2018/12/tech_xfer_of_concrete_pvmt_technologies_summ_w_cvr.pdf

2. A more brief account of the project workings, a 12-page Summary of Accomplishments in Support of Accelerated Implementation and Deployment of Pavement Technologies (2013-2018). This illustrated brochure provides a quick, yet comprehensive look at the multitude of efforts carried out to transfer concrete pavement technologies to agencies, practitioners, and researchers. The CP Tech Center provided presentations in the five project focus areas to roughly 4,500 attendees/participants in locations across the country during each year of the program. For the abbreviated version describing the program’s many achievements in a 12-page summary, please click on image to the right, or go to: https://intrans.iastate.edu/app/uploads/2018/12/accomplishments_summ_for_t2_of_concrete_pvmt_technologies.pdf
