Starting in November 2017, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) introduced a series of valuable and  informational videos called “Concrete Clips” about concrete pavements, materials, testing methods, and much more. Each “Concrete Clip” provides a concise overview of the video subject matter (i.e., Mixtures, Curing, Durability, etc.)—a presentation of key information on the subject. The videos serve as a resource as well a tool to generate interest in the use, and transfer of the technology.

Since 2017, the series has since expanded to 15 videos, adding 5 videos in 2020 to its latest clips! The entire series is definitely worth watching! For a list of ALL of the videos since 2017, please see below. LINK TO ALL: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=FHWA+Concrete+Clips

5 new 2020 videos with links, starting with the most recent:

—Concrete Clips: “Engineering Concrete Mixtures for Performance” (March 18, 2020)—An overview of how concrete mixtures can be tailored to the site conditions to produce a durable material that will ensure good, long-term, pavement performance. Concrete pavements are designed to perform for decades under harsh service conditions. This video presents an overview of how concrete mixtures can be tailored to the site conditions to produce a durable material that will ensure good, long-term, pavement performance: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXb4f7bCYs8&feature=youtu.be
—Concrete Clips: “Curing” (Mar 6, 2020): Curing is an important step in concrete construction that affects both strength and durability of concrete. Concrete gains strength through a chemical process called hydration. Curing refers to the steps taken to ensure that the moisture and temperature conditions necessary for proper hydration of concrete is maintained. This video presents an overview of concrete curing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZyMPt2MMdE
—Concrete Clips: “Durability Test Methods” (March 3, 2020)—This video presents means available to ensure durability of concrete for the exposure conditions of the project site: www.youtube.com/watch?v=amjZKDzmGdo
—Concrete Clips: “Admixtures” (Jan 15, 2020): Chemical admixtures are essential ingredients in modern concrete to modify the properties of both fresh and hardened concrete for workability and durability. This video presents an overview of how admixtures are used in concrete mixtures: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXVADRVxwto
—Concrete Clips: “Ensuring Durability Mechanisms and Mitigation” (Jan 15, 2020): Concrete pavements are often exposed to harsh conditions that can cause the material to deteriorate over time. This video presents how exposure conditions can damage concrete and what can be done to achieve long-lasting, durable concrete: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7I82WMcZ1Q
