NACA CEOs Send Letter to Congressional Leadership on Top Priorities for the 117th Congress

On February 16, 2021, the partners of the North American Concrete Alliance (NACA)—a coalition of 12 concrete-related national trade associations—sent a letter to the House and Senate Majority and Minority Leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. They pledged their support and addressed their top priorities for the 117th Congress, as well as urged consideration of some key positions on infrastructure investment, primarily, to swiftly pass bipartisan legislation that will repair our nation’s failing infrastructure. In addition, the cement and concrete industry addressed the the role we must play in addressing climate change and encouraged Congress to increase federal carbon capture technology investment.

The letter urged:

“As the 117th Congress convenes, the North American Concrete Alliance (NACA) and our members look forward to working with you on priorities that can reach bipartisan compromise … swiftly pass bipartisan legislation that will repair our nation’s failing infrastructure. …the cement and concrete industry understands the role we must play in addressing climate change and encourages Congress to increase federal carbon capture technology investment. “Every construction project in America requires cement and concrete,” the NACA partners wrote, adding “materials are critical to building resilient, durable infrastructure and constructing residential and commercial buildings that will withstand the impacts of climate change and the effects of natural disasters.

… materials are critical to building resilient, durable infrastructure and constructing residential and commercial buildings that will withstand the impacts of climate change and the effects of natural disasters. …imperative that America’s next infrastructure investment lasts for generations.

A long-term transportation reauthorization bill must provide robust funding … and a long-term sustainable funding mechanism for the Highway Trust Fund
