New Comprehensive Resources Released for Concrete Airport Pavement Quality

The Airport Concrete Pavement Technology Program (ACPTP) has officially released its final report titled Quality Control and Quality Acceptance of Concrete Airport Pavement, offering a transformative roadmap for airfield construction. Led by a research team from the University of North Carolina–Charlotte, this project introduces a suite of practical tools designed to standardize and elevate construction standards. These new resources include a Best Practices Manual and a model Contractor Quality Control Program (CQCP) that provide clear, actionable frameworks for project managers and contractors to follow throughout the lifecycle of a paving project.

Beyond the technical documentation, the initiative provides specialized training resources that focus on modernizing quality management systems specifically for the aviation sector. The guidance promotes a holistic strategy that integrates every phase of development, including initial material selection, complex mixture design, and the final inspection and acceptance procedures. By implementing these streamlined protocols, the industry aims to foster a more rigorous culture of quality that ensures more consistent pavement performance and longer-lasting infrastructure across all airport facilities.
