Concrete Pavement Experts Teamed Up to Deliver Crucial “Back to Basics” Jointing Webinar – Video Now Available!

The National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) is stepping up to address a foundational element of infrastructure durability with its webinar, “Back to Basics: Jointing Concrete Pavements”, which took place last month. A recording is now available for any interested parties. Industry authorities Dan King, PhD, P.E., from the CP Tech Center, and Eric Ferrebee, P.E., from the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) led this session that serves as a vital technology transfer hub for agencies, industry professionals, and academia alike. Recognizing that proper jointing is critical to preventing premature cracking and extending pavement life, the presentation will strip away the complexity of modern paving and refocus on the core principles required to design resilient transportation networks.

The learning objectives in this webinar cover everything from identifying basic joint types to mastering step-by-step methods for developing precise joint layouts at intersections and roundabouts—including the tricky engineering challenge of managing “dead-end” joints. Additionally, the experts break down various design methods specifically for concrete roundabouts and dive into the critical environmental and material factors that dictate the time-sensitive sawing window.
